Right now, your team is getting ready for Earth Day – and this year, you’ll want to go big because it’s Earth Day’s 50th anniversary!

We love what Earth Day stands for, and we must admit, we love scrolling endlessly through the #EarthDay hashtag. Check out some of the best content we saw brands and organizations share on Earth Day 2019, and inspire your own social media storytelling for 2020!

Earth Day 2019 Highlights to Inspire Your 2020

Shall we start with the experts? National Geographic shared a ton of fantastic content across Twitter and Instagram today, but this IGTV promo for the show, Hostile Planet, is a standout. Hint: Watch it on mobile. Having these clips take over your vertical screen is the only way to go.

See the world through a hummingbird’s eyes and swing through the jungle canopy with an orangutan. The #HostilePlanet team captures the heights that jungle animals must conquer to survive. Watch #HostilePlanet Mondays 9/8c on National Geographic.

Meanwhile, our friends over at the National Aquarium celebrated with a photo of something they do best: releasing rehabilitated sea turtles back into the wild.

There’s no better way to honor #EarthDay than by celebrating the return of rescue turtles to their ocean home!

Last week, National Aquarium Animal Rescue released seven sea turtles back to the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.

Not to be outdone (this team crushes it with social media, as you can see from the #CuteAnimalTweetOff), the Los Angeles Zoo promoted one of their awesome green initiatives, the ECO-CELL bin. Did you know that recycling your cell phone could help protect endangered species?

Happy #EarthDay! Stop by the Zoo and donate your old cell phone at our ECO-CELL bin. When possible, the phones are refurbished and distributed to conservation organizations. When the phones can’t be fixed, the parts are recycled responsibly. To learn more: https://t.co/ZBvlgm4EcF pic.twitter.com/brOXPTdpR8

Colorado Parks & Wildlife, which does a fantastic job of sharing stunning landscapes on social media every day of the year, paired a gorgeous image with a quote from Lady Bird Johnson.

"The environment is where we all meet, where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share. It is not only a mirror of ourselves, but a focusing lens on what we can become." – Lady Bird Johnson

Happy #EarthDay 🌎

The Minnesota Twins shared a photo of Target Field, the “Greenest Ballpark in America.” They also linked to an impressive infographic, outlining how the team is going green.

We're proud to celebrate #EarthDay today, and every day, at the "Greenest Ballpark in America!" #MNTwins

Columbus Crew celebrated all week long with their “Greener Goals Week of Service.” The team auctioned off signed jerseys in partnership with Adidas and Parley for the Oceans, and players built a community garden.

Absolut Vodka went all-in on Earth Day 2019, claiming to be “Planet Earth’s Favorite Vodka.” The brand created eye-catching visual content, like this stop motion video, to share how they conserve waste in their production process. Plus, they incorporated an influencer and UGC campaign, prompting followers to share their own images on the hashtag #AbsolutPlanet.

And of course, we can’t talk about Earth Day without sharing some unbelievable images from NASA. The NASA team shared thumb-stopping photos on Instagram and paired them with fun educational content on Instagram Stories. They also drove followers to Facebook Live for an Earth Day Q&A with NASA scientists.

Crashing waves 🌊 Falling snow ❄️ Blooming flowers 🌻 Fresh air all around 🍃 These are just some of the features that make our Earth so special. For decades we’ve used the vantage point of space to better understand our planet and improve lives. Today we look from the stars once more, this time solely to bask in the beauty of the world we call home. Happy #EarthDay! ⁣ ⁣ Image Credit: NASA⁣ ⁣ #Space #EarthDay #NASA #Earth #Nature⁣
