Learn How Discover Puerto Rico Develops Award-Winning Content Campaigns

Puerto Rico is a vibrant destination just a few hours South of Florida where global visitors gather year-round to experience colorful landscapes, sensational sounds, tropical flavors, and most of all, celebrate and get to know the Puerto Rican people.

In recent years, Discover Puerto Rico, the island’s destination marketing organization (DMO), has focused marketing efforts on encouraging travelers to support the ecosystem in new ways—celebrating the island territory’s natural wonders while simultaneously educating travelers on how to enjoy and protect the fragile environment. Through digital and social media content and eco-tour experiences, they highlight the beauty of the island territory’s natural wonders—like three of the world’s Bio Bays and the sprawling El Yunque Forest. They educate visitors on the ingenuity and the importance of community resilience after numerous natural disasters have caused infrastructural damage to the coastlines and habitats.

During COVID, they also launched fundraising campaigns like the Adopt A Coquí program and travel contests like ‘Sunshine to Spare’ to boost interest in exploring all that Puerto Rico has to offer.

Meet our guest speakers:

Jean-Paul (JP) Polo was born and raised in Puerto Rico. A filmmaker at heart, he has dedicated his career to content creation and strategy. After seven wonderful and life-changing years at National Geographic, he is now part of Discover Puerto Rico, the island’s newly created destination marketing organization. He has won several awards including 3 EMMYS, a Cannes Lion, and several Webby awards.

Darlien Morales Darlien crafts poignant stories through cinematic language. Her documentary filmmaking specialty to merge the gap between science and media led her to win 3 Emmys, among other awards. Her films have premiered at esteemed world stages that range from the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco to the Escola Superior de Disenho Industrial of Brazil. Currently, Darlien lives in Puerto Rico, (where she was born and raised) producing enthralling content for Discover Puerto Rico. She is also the underwater cinematographer for Sea Change, a feature film partnered with Sylvia Earle’s Mission Blue Alliance.
