Webinar: Tips and Tricks from the Most Innovative Team in Sports
Webinar: Tips and Tricks from the Most Innovative Team in Sports

The Sacramento Kings are undoubtedly one of the most cutting-edge, forward thinking teams in sports. SportTechie ranked the Kings #1 on its list of the 25 most tech-savvy sports teams in the world. Fast Company named Sacramento the “Most Innovative Company in Sports.”

Now, the Kings’ Creative Director is sharing his secrets in our latest Libris Visual Storytelling Webinar, Behind the Scenes with the Sacramento Kings: Tips and Tricks from the Most Innovative Company in Sports, on Thursday, August 10 at 2pm EDT.

Register to get:

  • An understanding of how the Kings use visual content for everything from social media to sales
  • An insider’s look at the Kings’ creative workflow from creation to publish
  • Tips for engaging your audience from a team that provides an unmatched fan experience

One of the ways the Kings set themselves apart is with visual content. Want to get inspired before the webinar? Check out some of the Kings’ most innovative projects below.

5 Creative Ways the Sacramento Kings Use Visual Content

1. Real-time storytelling on social media

The Kings want to make sure their fans get the best content during the game, whether they’re sitting in the stadium or watching from home. Their court side photographer shares images with the social media team in real time so they can get them out to fans as fast as possible.

2. Creating an interactive experience for fans

It might be the offseason for the team, but it’s still game time for Kings fans. The Kings created a virtual basketball game on Twitter with a thread they’re calling, “Final Possession: A Scenario Thread.” The thread is packed with photos, GIFs and polls, and it has generated thousands of likes and retweets.

Try it out, but fair warning: this content is highly addictive.

3. Experimenting with 360-degree video and AR

The Kings used 360-degree video to reveal the team’s new jerseys in 2016.

Now, they’re taking the experience to the next level with an augmented reality feature in the team’s fan app. Fans can drop a player wearing the latest jersey into their home, and post next to him for a photo opp.

4. Sharing progress updates for the new arena

As the Kings prepped for the opening of the Golden 1 Center, they documented the entire construction process through photography. The Kings used their collection of renderings, groundbreaking ceremony shots, drone photos and more to deliver progress reports to partners, share updates with the media and highlight milestones on social media.

The photos helped the team generate excitement about the new arena and keep partners, sponsors and fans engaged.

5. Engaging season ticket holders

The Kings send a photographer to every event for current and prospective season ticket holders. After these events, the photos are immediately made available to the Ticket Sales team so they can send them to their VIP guests. This is a fantastic way to “surprise and delight” season ticket holders and to encourage them to keep coming back for more.
